We're meeting at the Shaws parking lot on Rt 7 in South Burlington at 4:45AM and heading south to the Sherburne Pass parking lot in Killington on Rt 4. If you're not carpooling with us, meet us at the Sherburne Pass parking lot by 6:30am. We'll leave a car and shuttle south down Rt 7 to Rt 140 east to the Long Trail intersection in Wallingford. The plan is to begin running north by 7:30am.

26 miles total - down to Clarendon Gorge then up and down Killington Peak.

If interested, email me and I'll zip you all the fun details.

Mud & Cheers,
Mike

Well, after the joy of being out of the car wore off, we settled in to some fantastic trail running through a changing forest on really nice trail. So nice, in fact, we weren't sure this was actually part of the LT. After the 11.5 mile pit stop, we climbed a long grade and took the .2 mile spur to the summit of Killington Pk. for a breathtaking view. Then the long downhill and some more great trail ( a bit more typical for the LT). A bite to eat at McGrath's Irish Pub filled out the day. DM

Great day. I got stung by a bee. I had knee pain and had to stop at mile 11.5. New Long Trailer Molly caught a wooden plank in the shin as a result of Greg stepping on the other end and seesawing it up...then she fell and banged her knee on it. Clement got lost for a mile. Molly lost her keys...and her car was the one at the finish. Hell, what didn't go wrong? Well, let me answer that. Greg pounded the trail for 27 miles. Molly thrashed through 25 miles. Clement section ran the first 11.5 then another 8.5 or so at the end. The weather and scenery were special. Greg, Molly and I had a delicious dinner and some laughs at The Inn At Long Trail. Greg has been given the trail name Deiter Mint and Molly will be forever known as Seabiscuit. Oh, and I found her keys in the grass using my trusty headlamp. A great ending to a great day with some great people on the great Long Trail. Pics coming soon. You all missed out :P Mud & Cheers, Mike
