Hey Long Trailers!

I've been dying to introduce my trail shoes to the 26+ mile Missisquoi River Rail Trail that starts in St. Albans and ends in Richford, VT. From what I hear, this is some beautiful country. The trail should be non-technical and relatively flat...a GREAT long run option for those looking to build some mileage. If it's really, really, really good - maybe we'll plan an out-and-back 50 mile adventure sometime this summer :)

8am is the most popular time to BEGIN the run based on the poll so far. PLEASE be on time. I think we will do an out and back so people will overlap and the run can be a bit more social, easier to coordinate, and it will suit all the distances people are interested in. That said, there's no excuses why everyone shouldn't join us :) 5, 10, 13, 18, 20, 26...come on out!

Oh, and if anyone is feeling 'charitable' and would love to run support for the morning...well, your lunch will be on me - any takers? Zip me an email.

Please coordinate rides amongst yourselves...or if you need a ride and don't mind leaving early, I can drive some people from Skinny Pancake at 6:30am. Zip me an email offline.

Your humble map obsessed trailhead,

Mike

I'll be doing the 17-18 miles with Heather and Sarah. I have been dealing with an uncooperative IT band and after 20 miles last weekend, it's flared up again. I'd love to do the 26-miles once my IT chills out. Start time: anytime after 7 a.m. is cool with me! (Michael: I don't know where to find the poll thingy!)

I've been running a 14 mile section of the trail for the last couple of weeks, the snow is for the most part gone and when it warms up the trail is soft, but not muddy. The rain this weekend should take care of most of the snow. I plan on doing 17 of it and will have room in my car for 3-4 people who may need a pick up in Richford.

We will do an out and back if people want so everyone can run whatever distance they want and we'll overlap with each other after the turn around. Of course, if people want to go end to end; we can do that too. I'll figure out the water drops next week when I return. If anyone wants to volunteer to help - please shoot me an email.

I'm proposing the 'early' bus leaves from Skinny Pancake at 6:30 AM :) Are people interested in running on the early side? I'd like to run 26.. maybe out and back and not have to deal with shuttling cars.

    •  The trail was not the most inspirational, but it was fun to knock off a long run with a group. I am looking forward to more adventures with the LTRC.

26+ miles of Missiquoi Rail Trail ( I think I could see the turn around from the trailhead), the grandaddy of all blisters, and a good spring chill? Nothin' a good ice bath, homemade Cherry Garcia ice cream and a box of Advanced Care Blister Bandaids can't handle. Great to meet some new LT runners today and a big thanks to Deanna for going the extra distance with me.

Everyone was a rockstar this morning...well, except me who dealt with some leg cramping issues after about 15-16 miles. The scenery was beautiful, company excellent, the trail...um, flat, hard pack, and you could see for what seemed like miles in front of you. Cheers to everyone for running strong. It was great to meet some new Long Trailers. The post run milk shakes at Nana's were uber delicious.
    •  Great weather, awesome people, and hours of running. Who could ask for more? Okay, roots and rocks would be nice but for a rail-to-trail, this course was excellent. And that doesn't even include the milkshake at Nana's.
