Once the snow melts, I'd love it if people wanted to join me on a Long Trail run. Start at Bear Hollow trailhead off of Hwy 15, West Settlement Road. Run to Bear Hollow, over Whiteface, over Morse, down ski hill at Chilcoot Pass, and on 108 to Smuggs Village where we can get a treat before heading out. This is about a 3 hour run with pit stops for pottie breaks and photo opts. I think the mileage is only about 12-15 but quite steep in places. I did this run solo last year and had a blast! This run would involve shuttling of two cars or a pick up from my mom, who lives near Smuggs and could pick us up at the village and drop us back at our car.
Considering a north-south run on the well marked Sunapee-Monadnock Greenway Sunday 6/20. Starting at the base of Sunapee at 6 AM and ending on the Marlboro Trail off Monadnock summit & Shaker Farm Rd off 124; 52 +/- total miles. Stopped at rt 101 in 2009 which took roughly 10:40 (44 +/- miles). Shooting for the additional 5-7 miles and Monadnock this year in under 12 hrs. RSVP with interest and I can send more info & coordinate water stops, food stashes, and car pooling options.

If anyone is interested in suffering together -- I mean, some interval work, we could meet somewhere on Thursdays at 5:30pm. Maybe outside of On Track?

Hi everyone! I'll be running some nice slow hill repeats tomorrow morning to ease back into a workout schedule. If anyone wants to join me, I'll be starting around 6:15 tomorrow morning (Friday July 16th) at the bottom of the access road from the waterfront to North Ave (not long, or a trail, but that's ok).

Before I forget, here is the location of mud city. I wish I could remember better, but there should be a parking spot on mud city road, then a long gradual upslope into the mountains.
At some point, you come to a red gate, and hang a left there. That will put you on a trail that takes you (after a few miles) to a GMC cabin. You can continue up, I believe to meet the long trail. (also good for XC skiing)

South of Middlebury take route 125 to Ripton. ABout a mile past Ripton store on right is the Goshen road. ABout 4 miles on right is the turn to the Moosalamoo campground. National Forest road #24. About 1/4 mile on right is the parking area next to the campground. Bathrooms are available at the campground. Route is a figure 8 with 7.5 miles single track then back to parking area and then 7 mile loop on x country trails and gravel roads. I would enjoy the company at 8AM. Let me know if you will meet me.
Anyone looking to do a long run on the road Saturday morning is welcome to join! At least Christy and I will be running. Location is still TBD, but Christy is doing 16, and I'm doing 10.2.
Ideas for where? We were thinking that 8am on a Saturday is early enough!
Had forgotten how nice this is.
Park at the boat ramp just after the dam, walk/run to Campground entrance, (where they have maps showing how Little River connects to Cotton Brook) and take a left. This connects you to trails through the old settlement.
Very nice climbing, woods, and streams for bathing feet. Plus you can swim in the reservoir afterwards. Easy to create long loops for very long runs, and you can probably connect through Trapps and Long/Catamount to Mansfield, etc.
By the way, there is a water spigot on the back side of the campground entrance building.
There is a 1 day event coming to Burlington on May 16th http://www.spartnrace.com
It is a race for people bored with standard races, 2 miles or running with crazy obstacles
There will be live music Spartan Re-Enactements, Spear Throwing, Archery
Hope to see you all there
