Snow Run Snow

A quick little poem I ran across today on a community list I participate in...enjoy. Cannot wait for a beautiful snow filled run tonight ;)

Snow Run Snow

Muted sound, dark streets, snow falling,
No skin showing, eyes peeking out,
From inside a protective cocoon,
Running through the snowy streets.

Laughing with my two comrades at arms,
Talking about our lives, "Days of our Lives",
Not much about running, "just do it,"
So much more to us than being runners...

Quiet streets so early, before the dawn,
Snowflakes falling, heading for a landing,
On the ground, on my face as I look up,
Turning every surface fluffy and white.

Pristine fields, yet unmarked by a print,
Trees crystalized, branches bowing down,
An occasional car lighting up the road,
Is he cursing the falling snow as a barrier?

Sparkling like glitter in the globe of light,
Cast by my headlamp--which brand?
Trail shoes giving me better traction,
Or road shoes allowing some skating?

Snowy, rainy, windy, sunny, cloudy,
Make the most of whatever is bequeathed,
As long as you are out there running,
Socializing, pondering, living, dreaming..
